Softer Tone in Lentils

VANCOUVER - Feb 27/10 - SNS -- International lentil markets finished the week's trading on a softer note as buying interest fell behind offers from exporters and processors.

Markets have fallen sharply since the middle of January, a moment when the bullish enthusiasm of the fall shipping period crashed on good crop prospects for both India and Turkey.

India's rabi season lentil area is up over last year and yield prospects are better, leaving red lentil exporters doubtful they can sustain sales to India through the remainder of the 2010-11 marketing year.
