Why is it Windows Movie Maker isn’t compatable with a JVC camcorder?
I got this JVC camcorder for £160 on Monday. It’s great, it films well, audios great, everythings fine. However, I used the USB cable it came with to upload a couple of videos I’d done. Except that this box comes up whenever I try to get it to play in WMM. I think I have to change the format from MOD to another type, but I don’t know how to convert it. Also, I downloaded this AVS converter, which at the moment is working fine but it still won’t let me import the videos to WMM. I’m not an expert on it all though, so any advice would be great. Did you install the Everio Media Browser that came with your JVC camcorder? It might help in properly “exporting” your video files for use in other applications.
Windows Movie Maker is supposed to support “.MOD” files (MPEG-2). You might have to go to Microsoft’s “Windows Live Movie Maker” website to get an update or do a codec check. See the WMM FAQ: http://explore.live.com/windows-live-movie-maker-file-types-faq and click on “Video Files” or “Show All”.
