Jvc Mod Format Convert

Posted in Uncategorized by admin on May 31, 2011

How do I convert a ‘.mod’ file into ‘.wmv’ or ‘.mov’ file?

I have a JVC Everio HardDisk Camcorder. The movies are recorded in a ‘.mod’ format. I can play them from the camera but I am having problems storing them on disks or playing directly from my laptop. I keep getting the error code ‘format not recognized’.

Any thoughts/suggestions would be most helpful.

THANKS!

Your camera should have come with software to help you do this. My old JVC came with Cyberlink PowerDirector. You can import the mod files into there and then export them into whatever formats it supports (I tend to use mpg-1, but I think it does wmv, real video, and quicktime too).

If you don’t have the original software CDs, things get a little trickier. If you just want to play them, sometimes you can get lucky and just rename the extension from mod to mpg. Otherwise, you might want to poke around on some other forums (see reference) for more help.
