Did you install the Everio Media Browser that came with your JVC camcorder? It might help in properly “exporting” your video files for use in other applications.

Windows Movie Maker is supposed to support “.MOD” files (MPEG-2). You might have to go to Microsoft’s “Windows Live Movie Maker” website to get an update or do a codec check. See the WMM FAQ: http://explore.live.com/windows-live-movie-maker-file-types-faq and click on “Video Files” or “Show All”.
